Materials And Resources

In order to complete the proposed second floor extension, specific materials, equipment, and personnel will be required. The following three lists describe the materials, equipment, and personnel which are required for the construction of the proposed design.

Construction & Work Methods

The construction process for the second floor extension is broken down into several phases. Before construction begins, certain areas of Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood house will be sectioned off. After the construction zone has been sectioned off, the required equipment can be moved in, and deconstruction can commence. Upon completion of the deconstruction phase, construction of the second floor extension will take place. Finally, after construction of the structural components are complete, interior finishing and clean up will close out the project.

Hazards & Safety

Safety throughout the duration of the second floor extension will be paramount to the success of the project. Plastic tarps and/or sheets will be used to quarantine the construction zone to limit dust and debris from entering the remainder of the building. It is intended that essential functions of Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood house will remain in operation for the majority of the project duration. To ensure safety for both the employees of Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House and the contractors completing the work, certain guidelines must be adhered to. Only contractors will be allowed to enter the construction zone during working hours in order to prevent unforeseen injuries to either party. After construction has been completed for the day, the contractor will be required to ensure the construction zone is properly cleaned up and secure.

Standard safety procedures should be followed by all contractors, and appropriate safety equipment should be worn at all times. Any accidents or unexpected safety concerns should be reported to the project manager immediately.

Construction Work Plan

A work plan was developed for the construction of the proposed conceptual design and will be discussed in the following section. The construction work plan covers the tasks (steps) required, a description of the work methods, a list of the key resources, and important safety practices.
